Rust is seeking to run against U.S. Rep. Jim Banks for the seat being vacated by U.S. Sen. Mike Braun. The county’s Republican Party chair said in a July meeting with Rust that she would not certify him, according to the lawsuit. Rust filed a lawsuit in September against Secretary of State Diego Morales, the Indiana Election Commission and Jackson County Republican Party Chair Amanda Lowery challenging the law. Rust officially filed with the office Feb. 5 to run as a Republican, according to state records. Should he prevail in his quest to get on the primary ballot, Rust faces an uphill challenge for the nomination.

Just 1 in 3 Americans is engaged at work, according to Gallup's latest report on employee engagement. A new frontier of hybrid workplaces could be causing confusion, where colleagues don't understand each others' jobs or how their roles work together. "Team members need to learn or re-learn their roles relative to their co-workers' roles," Harter says. Managers "have more remote working, higher demands for flexibility, changing customer expectations, and 70% report no training for how to manage a hybrid workforce," Harter says. If managers could do one thing to boost engagement, it's to focus on delivering "meaningful feedback," Harter says.

Employees who aren't engaged at work may cost the economy $1.9 trillion, according to Gallup. Workers feel increasingly disconnected from their workplaces and feel their expectations are unclear. AdvertisementA lack of employee engagement at work may cost the economy nearly $2 trillion as workers are dealing with unclear expectations, weak connections to their companies, and lower satisfaction levels. This comes as the proportion of employees in hybrid and remote positions stabilizes, as 52% of those in remote-ready jobs work hybrid. These include discussions about employee strengths and goals, opportunities for collaboration, and how employees' work impacts the larger organization.

Want a four-day workweek? You’re not alone

New York CNN —If you’ve always thought you might be happier with a four-day workweek, you’re hardly alone. While studies of four-day workweek experiments in the United States and Europe have found generally positive results in terms of employee productivity and well-being, it’s not necessarily a positive for everyone in every situation. Those who always have to work onsite might get a greater benefit from a four-day workweek because it provides an element of flexibility that they don’t have now. “Whereas, in remote-ready jobs, there is some built-in flexibility, which may create less need for a four-day workweek,” he noted. While the four-day workweek was the top pick overall in the newly released Gallup survey, when it comes to having a positive impact on well-being, two other options were not far behind.

Nearly 1 in 5 employees worldwide are "loud quitting" at their jobs, a new Gallup report says. Here's what loud quitting looks like in the workplace. Between the 18% of employees loud quitting and the 59% quiet quitting, Gallup estimates low employee engagement costs the global economy $8.8 trillion and accounts for 9% of global GDP. Quiet quitting refers to doing your job just as advertised, not going above and beyond. "The cause of this loud quitting, or even quiet quitting, is really primarily in how people are managed," he said.

Americans are among the most stressed out workers in the world, and ongoing debates about in-person versus remote work could be a big reason why, according to Gallup's latest report on the state of the global workforce. More than half, 53%, of U.S. workers say they're stressed on a daily basis, and it jumps higher for women — 57%, among the highest shares in the world. It's a notch higher than the 44% of global workers who say they're stressed every day. When people value work so highly, it's important that organizations actively work to make sure their work environments improve their employees' lives, Harter adds. That could become harder as hybrid and remote work become mainstays of the work experience.

Young workers may not possess the experience or wisdom of their older colleagues. When Gartner asked people what was preventing them from going into the office, Gen Zers were more likely than other generations to cite social anxiety. Pollak, the consultant, told me about a client who complained that their Gen Z employees were "abusing" the company's vacation policy. But these are the very people who can help young workers feel more seen and motivated in their jobs. My suggestions are targeted to shore up engagement among young workers, but they'd actually be good for everyone.
But in recent weeks, as companies brace for tougher times ahead, the assault on middle managers has picked up new steam. At Meta, Mark Zuckerberg is eliminating layers of middle management, demoting many supervisors to the ranks of the supervised. Zuckerberg offered a telling explanation for his decision: He doesn't want to have "managers managing managers, managing managers, managing managers, managing the people who are doing the work." In the UKG survey, 42% of middle managers said they were often or always stressed — a higher share than either frontline workers or C-suite executives. The businesses most likely to weather the current economic turmoil, Harter says, are those that unlock the hidden value of middle managers.
As Americans enter the third year of the pandemic, most workers just aren't into their jobs, with nearly three-fourths saying they're either not engaged or actively disengaged at work, according to new Gallup data released Wednesday. Only 32% of American workers said they were engaged at work last year, down from an all-time high of 36% in 2020 and 34% in 2021, the data shows. Workers who are actively disengaged "are disgruntled and disloyal because most of their workplace needs are unmet," according to Gallup. Both women and younger workers value freedom and autonomy in the workplace, Harter said. Hybrid workers saw 2% increases in both active disengagement and "quiet quitting," and a 4% drop in engagement.
The drop spans demographics and work styles, including remote, hybrid, and onsite. Americans are reporting higher than ever levels of dissatisfaction and malaise at work, a new Gallup poll found. At the same time, 18% of American workers said they actively disengaged at work, an increase of 2% from 2021. "The real fix is this simple: better leaders in the workplace," Clifton wrote. Great managers help colleagues learn and grow, recognize their colleagues for doing great work, and make them truly feel cared about.
The office has deployed the 1989 law at the same time the Labor Department presses a workplace safety investigation of Amazon that has already led to several citations. The office also wants video surveillance footage of Amazon facilities and has served subpoenas to take testimony from Amazon employees, including high-level executives, according to Ms. Ahmad. Amazon in court papers in the case in Seattle said the information demands are “unrealistic” and the U.S. Attorney’s Office stretched to assert jurisdiction under Firrea. Any fraud case against Amazon would turn on whether the company had made misrepresentations to lenders and whether those misrepresentations impacted their decision-making, he said. A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan didn’t respond to a request for information on the identities of the financial institutions whose dealings with Amazon are under scrutiny.
At least half of all U.S. workers now do the bare minimum of what's required from them at their jobs, according to a new survey from Gallup. Industry watchers and workforce experts have adopted the term "quiet quitting" to describe such workers: people who have chosen to reject the hustle culture that has dominated conversations around work and career for decades. While quiet quitting is sometimes defined as simply enforcing boundaries between work life and personal life, the Gallup survey paints a different picture. "Many quiet quitters fit Gallup’s definition of being 'not engaged' at work — people who do the minimum required and are psychologically detached from their job," Harter wrote. Most employees who are actively disengaged or are not engaged are already looking for other jobs, Harter said.
